Though they do not provide resources for immediate use, planned gifts such as bequests, charitable gift annuities, and insurance policies provide essential revenue for the future support of The Citadel.
The Foundation for Leadership campaign itself is founded upon a lead gift of more than $9 million. A substantial portion of this generous gift consists of a bequest that will support and further endow the Krause Center for Leadership and Ethics, providing vital resources for leader development to ensure the center’s future growth.
Documented pledges of support through the estate plans of current donors allow the college to anticipate future revenue streams for long-term strategic planning purposes. Such gifts may be designated in support of the campaign priorities outlined above.
In consultation with the donor’s financial advisor, The Citadel Foundation staff can help determine a giving plan that suits each donor’s financial situation while accomplishing his or her philanthropic objectives.
In order to ensure that the campaign raises sufficient resources to support The Citadel’s current and upcoming strategic needs, the Foundation for Leadership campaign will count up to $65 million in estate gifts toward the overall $175 million goal.
